In terms of innovation alone, Mount & Blade is a triumph. The game presents first person RPG in a whole new way and there are plenty of exciting battles in different styles and formats. To find out how the game plays out overall, read on.

For the first time ever, players are presented with the chance to go into battle on horseback, on foot and even head their own army, all in one game. This role playing game promises a lot and players are given the chance to create their own story along the way.

The downside of this is that there is no coherent storyline and it can often be a bit difficult to figure out what is going on. Many elements of the game feel incomplete, with players tasked at filling in the gaps that the creators left wide open. While there are lots of missions to complete, or in this case quests, these quests are in no way as exciting as they seem at first and in fact are often rather repetitive and even dull.

When players get down to the battles they are sure to get caught up in the drama and detail of these battles. Unfortunately, the gaps between battles can be almost as big as the holes in the story, which can leave players feeling rather frustrated as they wait for something, almost anything, to happen.

Exploring the huge and elaborate world of Mount & Blade can often feel like being stranded in a medieval landscape. Without hints and tips to point players in the right direction it is all too easy to get lost. However, the characters that you meet along the way are detailed and provide a welcome distraction from the boredom of trying to find out where to go.

If Mount & Blade was only about fighting, it would surely be a success. However, the series of boring missions that players have to get through before they can enjoy the fighting and the last of structure make the game drag, while the numerous bugs are likely to make it crash right when you get to the good part.
